The Birthing/Berthing Anointing

The act of Berthing a ship means to bring the vessel up to speed until it is made fast. Another definition is to assign a space of rest for the vessel in a canal for an extended period.

Let’s go a bit deeper here with the word Birthing.

Babies are nurtured in a body of water. The Mother is their vessel of life and provides a space for the baby to be birth through the birth canal so the infant can be brought up to speed when the time of birth is documented/ DOCKumented.

So when people talk about spiritual birthing anointings there’s a much deeper level of understanding that we have previously not been aware of. Consider the possibility that your birthing/berthing anointing can allow you to call forward things into their destiny to be made fast and effective. You’ll also have the ability to assign spaces of rest. By assigning spaces for things to rest, you create order.

Let’s look at the meaning of the word fast.  Old English fæst  means steadfast or fixed firmly. Germanic origin: fest. Dutch origin: vast. Middle English evolved the term to mean run vigorously after a close object. This is where the change of the word fast came into use. Fast, Fasten, Fasting. All are similar words and all possess widely different meanings and connotations.

Speed, hold securely, to attach, to go without.

I hold the belief that biblical scriptures are Holy and hold power and help us know how to access Power(s). Here are just a few scriptures on holding fast which acts as an anchoring of our entire being, into the Word of God.

“Prove all things. Hold fast to that which is good.”  1 Thes 5:21

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23

You shall walk after the LORD your God and be in awe of Him and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him. Deuteronomy 13:4

When we hold fast to something we are making something secure. Norwegian and Dutch sailors used the saying “houd vast” meaning “Hold tight”. When something is experiencing turbulence or shaking, the first response by many people is to quickly hold onto something. This kind of turbulence is experienced in airplanes when passengers are told to fasten their seatbelts. Turbulence is also experienced during the wake created as a vessel moves through water. It’s in these moments where we fasten our being to Creator and utilize power beyond our own, but deep within us to bring about security.

Let’s look at the military use of holdfast. A holdfast is a technique by which artillery is fastened firmly to the ground. Think of a concrete base that a firearm is bolted onto. In World War II, these were used to secure coastal battery firearms in pillboxes. A Holdfast is also a military strategy when you are experiencing a shaking in the wake of deep waters.

Hold fast.

Houd vast.

Vast: an unsecure or a boundless area.

It’s the deep.

Let’s talk about the spiritual strategy of a fast. When someone is on a spiritual fast, they – with their will – create a vast within their body of the thing they are abstaining from in the physical realm. Fasting allows for the soul to create an immense space (a vast) for something else to rest. Our physical body is made up of water. Recall how the act of berthing a ship means to bring the vessel up to speed until it is made fast. Fasting as a spiritual tactic allows the physical body to be brought up to speed until it is made fast or secure.

Going further into the nuances of the word fast, while our body is physically fasting, the vast that is created allows a grand opening into the spiritual realm. We access this realm but the doorway of the Most High God who gives us access to this spiritual realm. In many traditions and lore, water symbolically represents Spirit. Our human body is a vessel (ship) that allows for us to berth (bring up to speed) spiritual assignments, birthrights, callings, mandates, judgments, etc.

When we don’t know who we are, we are completely hindered to operate according to our design or in freedom.
